چکیده

There are two main approaches to the design Business Rules. The first one involves formalized methods that strictly define the syntax and semantics of rules. This approach usually requires technical skills or conceptual knowledge and therefore is not appropriate for everyone. In the second approach, dedicated rule languages are used for facilitating rules specification. Nevertheless, such languages are usually programming solutions without a precisely defined semantics. This may cause ambiguities in knowledge interpretation and thus, the efficient rule interoperability becomes impossible. The goal of our work is to develop a formalized model for a rule representation which will allow for an effective rule interchanging. For this purpose, we want to combine the above mentioned approaches by tailoring the formalized rule representation called XTT2 to languages provided by CLIPS or Drools. This paper is the first step in our research providing an identification of the most important differences between the XTT2 and CLIPS rule languages.

HalVA - Rule Analysis Framework for XTT2 Rules

Quality and reliability issues are important in development and exploration of rule-based systems. In the paper a formalized knowledge representation for rules called XTT2 is considered. It is a rule language based on an expressive attribute logic called ALSV(FD). A custom runtime and veri cation framework for XTT2 called HalVA is proposed. It allows for veri cation of certain formal properties...

Uml Representation for Rule-Based Application Models with XTT2-Based Business Rules

In this paper challenges of using Knowledge Engineering methods in the Software Engineering practice, with focus on the visual design methods for software applications, are discussed. The paper concerns practical design issues of rule-based models integrated with business applications built using the Model-View-Controller (MVC), or equivalent architectural pattern. The Unified Modeling Language...

Proposal of a Hierarchical Approach to Formal Verification of BPMN Models Using Alvis and XTT2 Methods∗

BPMN is a visual notation for modeling business processes. Although there are many tools supporting it, they rarely provide formal verification of models. We propose a new approach to formal verification of BPMN models using the Alvis modeling language and the XTT2 knowledge representation. The structure of the BPMN model can be analyzed using translation to Alvis. Alvis models can be verified ...

Proposal of Representing BPMN Diagrams with XTT2-Based Business Rules

Business Processes describe operations of an organization. However, they do not take into account such aspects as detailed logic specification or process implementation. Business Rules are generally better suited for these purposes. Although there is ongoing research on integration of Business Processes with Business Rules, there is no standardized methodology for this integration. We propose a...

The Representation of Social Actors In Interchange Third Edition Series: A Critical Discourse Analysis

This study takes a critical discourse analysis approach to investigate the linguistic representation of male and female social actors and construction of gender identities in the Interchange Third Edition. The analytical models used are van Leeuwen's (1996) framework and Halliday's transitivity model (Halliday & Matthiessen, 2004). The findings of this study indicated a differential representat...
